American Legion Waynesville Post 47

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

Hundreds of local American Legion programs and activities strengthen the nation one community at a time. American Legion Baseball is one of the nation’s most successful amateur athletic programs, educating young people about the importance of sportsmanship, citizenship and fitness. The Heroes to Hometowns program connects local Legionnaires with recovering wounded warriors and their families, providing a variety of support activities. The Legion raises millions of dollars in donations at the local, state and national levels to help veterans and their families and to provide college scholarship opportunities.

The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation's veterans community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.
The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.

Haywood County Tourism Development Authority

A place like this just doesn't appear overnight. It took some time to get everything just right. Bits and pieces, all mixed together, to create a very fresh blend of pure mountain bliss.

The mountain music. The craft breweries. Arts, crafts, and cozy little main streets. The fruits, vegetables, and trout-to-table entrees. Even the outdoor adventure is unique. We're proud of our one-of-a-kind Appalachian culture, where nothing is imported.

Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway the views here are euphoric.

"In Haywood County, things are Homegrown."

Tipping Point Tavern

We may be located in a small North Carolina town, but we’ve always dreamed big. From day one, it was our goal to brew great beer and create an inviting tavern to experience that beer in.

We have many great craft beers on tap including our very own Punch in the Face IPA and over 25 well-kept bottled beers.

It’s all about passion for us. Passion for great beer. Great food. And great service. It’s why people from all over the Carolinas come to the Tipping Point Tavern to tip a few.

We hope you’ll join us soon.

Lauronda Morrow Teeple, Owner

A Western North Carolina native (from Haywood Co. orginally), Lauronda's education was in computer science and art, but she began her professional career in advertising and marketing. Evolving quickly into management, she then took a turn into graphic design and the publication industry, where her artistic roots took hold again. Polishing her skills, and gaining community support for her to branch out on her own, she did just that. In 2004, she began her own advertising agency, ThreeSheets:Design, offering graphic and web design services, branding, and advertising/marketing consulting. What started with a dozen or so clients has now grown to over 100, and has extended its services into event planning, film producing, and eCommerce.

Lauronda currently contributes time, energy, and her design services to over 8 local non-profits, and when there is any free time, she spends it with her extensive WNC family, friends, her husband and  2 children, Ollie & Moose (of the four-legged variety.) Lauronda really enjoys working festivals with her friends in the beer industry - such as Kevin with BearWaters, and other close friends, Mark and Trish Lyons (of Brews Cruise, Inc.)
